We figured it's so much more expensive here because CA is an easy target - they can, so they do. Is your area similarly an easy target?

I figured the cost in CA was due to taxes. I am guessing it is taxes here as well. WI does not bend you over for registration tabs on a vehicle, but I am sure they are making up that money with taxes on gas. Still, other places in the state are cheaper so I am not so sure what is going on here.
Next door to the refinery here, it's $1.79 and $1.59 in Amarillo, but with my grocery store's discount, I'm now at $1.59 locally. Prices currently seem to fluctuate 20 cents or so at random intervals for no apparent reason. In terms of fuel taxes, Texas hasn't had a fuel tax increase in something like 11 years now, and the tax rate, adjusted for inflation, is lower than it was when the last increase was passed by our Beloved Legislature.
Yeah, there are about 6 or so refineries within 30 miles of here and it's more expensive here than in Sacramento, which is another 40 miles away from the refineries. It doesn't make any sense why it's cheaper farther away from the refinery.
Like I said, it's California, they screw us because they can, plain and simple.

Our prices here in central pa have never reflected this drop that I keep reading about. They have been steadily holding at about $2.25 to $2.29 for months and months and haven't moved at all
