    I was not negating cloud based backups, just the need to pay for it when there is so many free alternatives. Then again, I don't do corporate IT so I dont know how big those dbs get.

    I think it's maybe more of a question about those little hidden gotchas. Somehow, I just can't help but think that the reason that cloud providers push cloud services so much is that they are very good for the providers, but maybe not so much for their customers. Really a time to read the fine print. I expect there are situations when there may be "issues" with some services which might exceed the benefits. Anytime I here the word "free", my pucker factor tends to kick in.
