Yeah, I saw it on cnn this morning. It's amazing that the guy in the minivan walked away. It also said the cement truck spilled it's whole load.....talk about a messy cleanup that needs to be done relatively quickly!!

I've been through a couple of pretty terrifying collisions and lived to tell the tale, mostly by blind luck. I was about 6 when a guy T-boned my dad. The guy hit us doing about 40 miles an hour, but since the wreck happened in a downpour, he knocked our car about a half block down the road instead of rolling it over. I expect that saved my life. As it was, since I was sitting on the side where the guy hit us, I had a pretty impressive set of head to toe bruises down the right side of my body.

Another time, I was about 15, and riding with my friend and his dad when, once again, some idiot ran a stop sign and T-boned us. By this time, seat belt usage was mandatory, so I was strapped in. Good thing, since the car rolled over 3 times, and I woke up upside down hanging from my seat belt. I have a very clear memory of waking up. I was really happy to be alive, and I really needed to pee. The DPS troopers who cut me out of the belt and got me out of the vehicle were very understanding, and let me take a piss in the middle of the street without a citation.

As a Texan, I think it is mandatory that you have a couple of near death experiences in a motor vehicle as well as own several firearms to qualify for state citizenship. Pretty sure that's a voting requirement.
