    Phone Advice

One month today I'll be in New York. Ideally I'd like to use my phone out there but obviously not with my own sim card. I presume it's possible to buy a pre-paid sim only card out there that I can put in my phone? If so, what's recommended?

Assuming it's a GSM, use Straight Talk. They have SIMS for iphones. Use the AT&T network, not T-Mobile (it's crap). Of course, this assumes the phone is unlocked.
You can buy ST sims at Walmart *exclusively*., $60 gets you SIM + 1 month of unlimited talk, text & data.

Yeah, you can get a GoPhone plan from AT&T. You'd want to find an AT&T store once you get here. Just make sure your device is unlocked before you get here.

Why get the $60/mo plan when the $45/mo one does exactly the same on the same network???

Well, I'm not on this topic to argue. People can make their own choices. But if it were me, I'd just get GoPhone though. That's just me.

Hmmm,... what to do, what to do? Purchase my service directory from AT&T? Or cheap out with the third party less reputable service that just popped up recently that repackages/resells AT&T or T-Mobile service -- and that may or may not be around if I need them? Yeah, gee, that's a tough one. lol I'll go with direct AT&T every time. But that's just me. :-)

The devil is in the details. If I'm reading AT&T's plans correctly, the data rate on the $45 plan is throttled back after 2 GB, while the $60 plan offers only 2.5 GB of data, but doesn't throttle back the bandwidth. Kind of a quality versus quantity issue, I suppose. Honestly, don't you wonder how the bean counters come up with these plans?

I'm gonna go with CeeBee's first suggestion and say go with the Straight Talk SIM, if it works with your phone. Anyway, it's a temporary situation, not a marriage.

Exactly! Gazzak can afford either option. Either will get him by for the short time he will be using it. No need to put a lot of thought into this.
