    Taxis take credit cards?

I'm going to Phoenix next week for a CompTIA conference. Normally, I would rent a car but I really do not need one for this trip. I have not ridden in a cab for over ten years. Do they take credit cards?

Beats me. The last time I rode in a cab was in Vegas. I shared with my brother-in law, a couple of cousins, wives, and we had plenty of cash on hand. We were also shit faced drunk. These days, I expect virtually all cabbies accept plastic. Though you still can't go wrong with cash and massive intoxication.

Just make sure before you get in the car that they accept credit cards. Most of them do these days.

I ended up just renting a car. Based on the rates in Gazzak's link above, one way taxi would be $65, plus $5 for a tip, or $70. Round trip, $140. To rent an intermediate size car from Alamo with insurance, plus $10 per day for parking was $156. Add in another $20 for gas and it comes to $176. Yes, I would saved $36 by using a taxi but now am in control of getting to and from wherever and I do not have to be trapped in the hotel at night.

Stuck in hotels does bite. I used to spend a lot of time on the road, and most of it was in 18 to 24 ft. straight trucks. Couldn't even go out for a beer. I always tried to stay somewhere that at least had a bar, but that wasn't always possible. Thank God for books.
