    Stress can be a Killer

    Even tho I considered that I was in good health and living a healthy lifestyle (eating right, no drugs/smoking, etc.) I woke up Tuesday morning, the 29th, and had intense pressure and pain in my chest. I called 911 and they took me to the ER. They ended up performing quadruple bypass surgery on Wednesday morning. I am now out of ICU and receuperating well in a private room (supposed to cost the same as a semi-private room.)

    I am convinced that the recent stress I've been going through is the main culprit.

    The stress of losing my job and all benefits in April of 2012;
    The stress of losing my wife to a heart attack in September of 2012;
    The stress of looking for a good job with benefits and going out on interviews;
    The stress of finally realizing that I can't keep up the payments on our beatiful home out in the country by myself and having to put it on the market;
    The stress of trying to find a suitable home that I can afford on my meager salary;
    And the stress of trying to maintain a normal life for my daughter and son.

    And now, of course, I have this HUGE hospital bill hanging over my head.

    I can handle on-the-job stress, dealing with customers, etc. but these things outside of my control are just driving me crazy.

    Thanks for letting me rattle on. It really helps out.

    Dang man, that's just horrible. Glad you were able to get it taken care of and hopefully things will take an upward swing for you now!

    Good that you are fine now.
    Take it easy and don't stress about things you cannot control or change.
    I recommend everyone taking a pill of Fukitol on a daily basis.

    Oh man,... Glad you're ok now. Geez. So sorry man. That's a lot of stuff.

    For now just rest and get better.

    Speaking of stress, I watched this video awhile back and realized just how dangerous stress really is. http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/n...f-a-killer-dvd

    I know this is going to sound a bit like a cliche, but try meditation. Take a look at http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...tips-beginners

    Contrary to what a lot of people think, meditation isn't just letting your mind drift; it's learning to focus your attention on specific experiences. It's about recognizing when your mind is wandering and getting it back on track. It requires effort, but you learn to tune out anxieties about things you can't control, tendencies to overthink problems, and helps you concentrate on more effective solutions to problems.

    That's quite a series of stitches on your chest. I'm glad they caught it when they did.
