Selfridge Air National Guard Air Show

I got to Selfridge today to see a dress rehearsal for this weekend's air show. It was really nice to be there before the general public since it was not crowded at all. We had a beautiful day. Here are some pictures of the Blue Angels. The pictures did not turn out as well as I had hoped but they are not too bad considering how difficult of a show they are.

    Fun. I like the pictures

I go see Blue Angels whenever I can. This year they were in La Crosse, WI. I met up with CK a few years back when they were in Mankato and have video on my Youtube channel.

I think the photos turned out very well. What did you use to shoot them?

The problem with trying to get something going about 600 mph is actually catching it at all. A few pictures I got were nothing but empty sky. In order to help with this, I did not zoom in very much and then I cropped the picture. The down side of doing that is sky causes a back light problem so the plane ends up looking too dark quite often. Regardless of the pictures, it was a fun day and it was really fun being there when I did not have to deal with thousands of other people.

Another set of gorgeous air show photos! And once more, I'm going to ask how they were shot.

Back in May, Travis AFB had an air show with the Thunderbirds and everything. I've seen them a lot and had no desire to fight the crowds, the parking and the heat, but B&C went on Saturday. On Sunday I needed to go grocery shopping (at the commissary on base) and figured the afternoon would be a good time to go. The crowds would already be in place waiting for the Thunderbirds to start. But when I got there, there was a crap ton of traffic. I didn't find out until the next day that there had been a crash, apparently moments before I got on base.

Here's the best link I could find.
