90 lbs of Mary Jane delivered to wrong address

Heard this a dozen times on the radio. You can't make this stuff up.

Can't copy article right now, but gist is, some idiot in California sent 90lbs if high grade weed to a clothing shop in Philly, with someone's name on it.

I have yet to hear if the cops found the guy, but it's hilarious IMO. You can't make stuff like this up.

Police are trying to weed out who sent 90 pounds of high grade marijuana to a Pennsylvania clothing store over the last two days.

People send dope via FedEx and UPS all the time. Delivers it straight to your front door.

It's not hard to imagine how it could work. I used to work at the UPS hub in Grand Rapids. It's a pretty big facility*. I never once in ten years saw a drug sniffing dog. I also did off hours tech support for all the facilities in out state Michigan (in other words, every place but the Detroit area) and I am positive none of them used drug sniffing dogs either.

    * The building has about 34 inbound dock doors and about 100 outbound dock doors. On a typical evening/night, the Twilight/Night sorts will process about 150,000 packages. Double that figure in December.

Right, but why would UPS incur the costs and hassles of sniffing packages? It's not their job.

On a related note, I had a relative get busted for shipping pot a few years ago. He shipped it USPS, dumbass.

Interesting item of note, the govt. has fewer issues searching UPS or FEDEX packages than it did USPS which required a judges order and a postmaster be present when opening your package. That was pre 9/11. Now they do whatever they please. So, pre 9/11 shipping USPS was the way to go for maintaining your rights. Also if shipping something not so legal to ship, use next day service. I ordered some "snail forks" (I ordered a switchblade) from a knife place in Italy once and received a letter from the govt saying X is suspected if being illegal and was seized. Previous to 9/11 they didn't bother to open things and destroyed them. Now they open and prosecute.

And in other news, police are investigating why only 30lbs are in the evidence room when all 55lbs were signed in.

In a larger, philosophical sense, is it possible to ship cannabis to a truly "wrong" address? I don't think so.
