Microsoft has released a new Update Rollup fairly recently. So, here are a couple of relevant articles with links to the downloads and some relevant commentary.
http://www.zdnet.com/article/microso...for-windows-7/ This is a general discussion of the latest rollup, and at the very end of the article, there are two links to download both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the package without navigating the MS Update Catalog.
http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-...-less-painful/ since some folks have found installing the rollup less smooth than anticipated this post is intended to provide some helpful information to make the process easier.
A couple of points to note are that the apparent preferred installation is with a network connection active during the installation, then disabling the connection until rebooting the system. And then installing the updates not included in the rollup.
I just did a new build, and ran the cumulative upgrade, which appeared to install correctly, but in fact some of the updates failed to install properly. The installation was done while I was logged in to a local administrative account, and it just didn't work. I gave it a couple of more attempts logged in as a domain administrator and neither attempt was successful. Maybe hard ware, maybe bad Karma, don't know. Still, here's the update package, and for a new build I would give it a shot. Hopefully, your experience will be better than mine.
