Yup, that's what i thought. You're not underpowering the speakers, you're overpowering them with square waves. If an amp is rated 100W it doesn't mean it cannot spit 101W, it can likely output about 100W at the rated THD. It may be able very well to output 500W at 50% THD. And that will destroy a speaker that can't take the power...

Weird....usergroup permissions are set that you can edit your own posts and forum permissions are not turned on, they just use usergroup permissions.

My edit button is gone too. I did edit a post the other day so at least it WAS working.
Oddly the edit is showing for THIS post but not for the previous one.

I saw this a lot with Subs in cars.
Guy buys a 15 inch 2000W Rated Sub then uses a 100W 49.99$ Sony amp.
Cranks the gain on the amp and blows the sub. Comes in yelling he blew his $600 sub with only a little amp.

Distortion from the amp kills speakers.

You have to throw crazy amounts of power at a sub to get it to blow so long and you keep the amp from distorting.

Probably those are crappy amps that also spit out DC when in overlimit...

This is a great way to get to know your new neighbors too.
