Here is an update. Mike is working, no pain, or discomfort. Total workers compensation paid so far is 236,000.00. Hospitals are very expensive places. Eats 6 to 8 times a day. Cannot even finish a Big Mac in one sitting. The shooter was ruled competent to stand trial. Attorney got him a second opinion in another county. They say he is fit. Trial to start 06/03/19. Postponed pre trial again, trying to find another county Doctor to evaluate him.

Unreal, how many times can he be evaluated? Can he just keep hopping around until he finds a doctor willing to say he's not competent? Good news on your son though, hopefully his recovery continues. What a nightmare!

Thanks for that update Mobile PC.

There was a case around here, the details of which escape me at the moment, but the guy was also trying to claim mental incompetence. At one of the pre-trial things, the judge out right said he's faking. In legalese, I'm sure. But it had gone on for years and the judge was fed up that he kept being declared fit but would come to court and act up like he was mentally unfit. Scum bags gonna scum bag.

Another update. The guy was sentenced today. He plead guilty to attempted murder, felony 1st. degree. Got 11 years for that. 3 year gun charge. Plead guilty to felonious assault, for the bat. Got 24 months for that. Total of 16 years, credit for 301 days served so far. Maximum on the attempted murder was 17 years. Judge gave him 11 so that if they appeal, they will lose. 5 years felony parole. If he screws that up, the parole board can sentence him to up to 8 more years. I probably won't live to see him get out. A very emotional day for the family.

Glad they're putting him away for a good, long time so that he can think about what he did and get some mind adjustment by his fellow inmates.

And yeah, how's your son doing after all of this? Hope he's doing fine.

Michael is good with the sentencing. His wife read a statement before the judge passed sentence. The whole courtroom was in tears, except for him, his attorneys, and his family. The prosecutor was balling. His two kids wrote letters, the are 15 and 10. The judge read the letters in open court, not out loud, but had a tear after.
