For those of you that work on cars . . .

My wife has a 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan. Since it is front wheel drive, there is no rear differential to use to lift it up with a floor jack. I would like to lift it up so I can replace the rear shock absorbers. I have two barrel jacks I could probably use by putting one on each side and then lifting them together at the same rate. There must be a better way (short of installing a lift in my garage). Maybe it is more trouble than it is worth.

    Any ideas?

From what I remember there is a jack pad in the back of the van. I seem to remember helping a friend with this. I think it is centered and between the gas tank and the back bumper.

    Is it in your manual?

I did not see anything that looked strong enough but there must be something there. Here is a picture I found on the Internet. I will look under her car again later. Thanks.

Would it not make sense to make a jack point extremely easy to use and find ? Considering it seems like every time I have to use one it's night and raining or snowing

They are usually easy to find, but jacking and putting a jack stand in the same physical location proves to be more difficult. At least for me. I don't work under a vehicle without a stand.

Once I find the correct spot, I will put jack stands on the sides as a backup and continue to hold the weight on the jack.

It would make sense to know the jack points on the car you are paying 20,000 dollars for. Just saying...

I would expect that graphic to be fairly accurate. There is almost certainly a lift point in that general area.
