News flash: life is a one way trip.
You can detour as much as you want as long as you are enjoying every second that you have. Why stay the course on something if you aren't enjoying it? And I'm in no way saying I'm not enjoying my seconds. I am. Probably more than ever lately. But in principal, it's okay to veer off course if it leads to a better result. George Bush always used to talk about "staying the course". Fuck that.
Yeah well there's some truth to that but then again, not really. When I first started posting (say 15 years ago), I was in my late 20's, staying out late every night, partying with friends, drinking, smoking cigarettes, being hungover. I was thin as a rail back then and could eat anything and I did whatever I wanted to do. We partied most nights back then. These days, I'm old, fat, getting greyer every day, boring, predictable, uninteresting, go to sleep early, get up early, go to school, responsible with my money and health, many of my friends are now married and some have kids. I'm definitely still the captain of the ship but I'm definitely not sailing on the same course as I did 15 years ago. But I do thank you for the "dork" compliment.
