I learned to drive in winter in a Firebird. RWD in winter has never been an issue for me.

Same here, but that doesn't always make it practical. I lived in a house that was on top a hill for a few years, no matter how well you knew how to drive RWD, you were walking up that hill unless you were about 5 minutes behind the cinder truck.

I have done quite well in winters. I have been stuck twice since I started driving. Both were due to the same snow storm and both were in my FWD. Both were also my fault. FWD while better in snow does not mean you can gun it up to 60 to crash through a 3 foot high snow drift a block long.
