I was offered a job in Amarillo managing the local branch of a vending company, and it was actually very good money. Of course, it was expected that I might have to sometimes fill in for an absent driver and have to service vending machines, pool tables etc. Well, I had spent a lot of my time in management with my previous employer filling in for missing drivers and tossing 100 pound bags of wet linen 3 feet over my head on top of a truck, dealing with hospital linen which included lots of human waste, having maggots crawl up my arms and such like, so I thought I could handle delivering coffee supplies.

Anyway, the deal breaker was that the company really wanted me to move to Amarillo, but I already owned a home 50 miles away which was paid for, and I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to a lease, let alone a purchase, to get the job. Why did I have to move to Amarillo? Well, some of their best clients were bars, and my prospective employer made it clear that I would be expected to do some good will visits and drink with managers and owners. In Amarillo, I could get a taxi home if I got too wasted. But, they didn't want to be liable for my spending an hour on the road. Shoulda gone for it, but I overthought it and was too cautious. Still, it is the only time a prospective employer told me that drinking on the job was mandatory.

They had three drainage lines in my chest cavity for the first 48 hours after surgery. When doc yanked those babies out, man-O-man, that was some serious pain. But I survived it all somehow and getting stronger and better every day. Still not lifting anything at all yet. I know I have limits. I can't even rub one out; not supposed to lift anything heavy.

Doctors tend to regard "discomfort" as what most of us would describe as "screaming agony". My ex-wife and I used to "date" a doctor, so I understand the mindset. If the procedure doesn't hurt the physician, it isn't pain. Otherwise, I understand where you are coming from. Many years ago, I broke my right upper arm and shoulder, and to this day I prefer to use restrooms with either floor drains or low hanging children's urinals.

Well, today's been a year since I had that bypass surgery. And again, that's something that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I healed up pretty quickly tho and have gone full steam ahead. Just curious as to what my next big hurdle is going to be. As you probably know, I've had several in the past few years.

But in the meantime, Life is Good!

I don't know. I've been fortunate when it comes to health. My blood pressure is a little high, but much of that I attribute to the fact that I drink too much coffee and alcohol, and I'm stressed out and pissed off a lot. Otherwise, except for work related injuries that annoy me, I'm good. Hell, even my cataracts don't rate surgery yet! I'm glad you're not falling apart, because you still owe me a drink and it would be boring on the forum without ya.

    THAT'S good to hear.
When you're left out of the club, you know it. When you're in the club, you don't see what the problem is.

I thought JaxSon and I might get together back in April for a round or two, but even though I was in Austin, I couldn't make it on to San Antone. Meeting him while I also visited EC in San Angelo recently didn't work either. However, the poetry he PMs me is deeply spiritual and moving, though a little naughty

You have paid your fair share. No need to assume more is on the way.
